The fall issue of Audubon magazine profiles City Forest Officer Rachel Malarich's fight to create a more equitable urban forest for Los Angeles. The article explains how City governments, including Los Angeles, have come to realize that a healthy treescape can be the difference between a community ready to face the worst effects of climate change and one that is not. Los Angeles made the bold decision to place equity at the cornerstone of its urban forestry growth policy - and hired Ms. Malarich to lead this effort.
