Los Angeles Sanitation and Environment (LASAN) and the YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles (YMCA) reached a milestone in their partnership to stop the spread of COVID-19 on Tuesday, April 21 by providing over 1,000 showers and other hygiene services to unhoused Angelenos.

The City of Los Angeles Board of Public Works approved a partnership between Los Angeles Sanitation and Environment (LASAN) and the YMCA on Friday, April 3rd. The partnership launched Monday, April 6th, 2020, and provided nine additional facilities that will supplement the six mobile hygiene units currently deployed by LASAN and 17 by the Board of Public Works for unsheltered residents.  This program is part of Mayor Eric Garcetti's executive actions to protect unsheltered Angelenos during the COVID-19 emergency.

LASAN is providing showers, bathrooms and locker rooms at nine YMCA facilities, including:

  • Anderson Munger Family YMCA
  • Collins & Katz YMCA
  • Hollywood YMCA
  • Mid Valley Family YMCA
  • North Valley YMCA
  • Weingart YMCA Wellness & Aquatic Center
