LA Sanitation and Environment (LASAN) Partnering with YMCA to Provide Additional Hygiene Facilities to Unsheltered Angelenos during COVID-19 Emergency

LOS ANGELES, CA (April 6, 2020)—The City of Los Angeles Board of Public Works approved a partnership between Los Angeles Sanitation and Environment (LASAN) and the YMCA on Friday, April 3rd. This partnership launches today, Monday, April 6th, 2020, and provides nine additional facilities that will supplement the six mobile hygiene units currently deployed by LASAN and 17 by the Board of Public Works for unsheltered residents.

"In a crisis like the one we are currently facing, it is vital that our most vulnerable are taken care of," said Board of Public Works President Kevin James, "This partnership with the YMCA will help ensure that people in Los Angeles without homes can still access the basic hygiene facilities necessary to stay healthy."

LASAN will provide showers, bathrooms and locker rooms at nine YMCA facilities, including:

  • Anderson Munger Family YMCA
  • Collins & Katz YMCA
  • Hollywood YMCA
  • Stuart M. Ketchum-Downtown YMCA
  • Mid Valley Family YMCA
  • North Valley YMCA
  • Weingart YMCA Wellness & Aquatic Center
  • Westchester Family YMCA
  • West Valley Family YMCA
