The City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works celebrates National Public Works Week (NPWW) from May 19-25, 2019. Held each year in May, NPWW recognizes and highlights the important and outstanding work efforts by thousands of hard working Public Works professionals. This year's theme: “It Starts Here" signifies that the quality of life starts with public works from infrastructure, growth and innovation, to mobility, security and healthy communities.

The City of Los Angeles has more than 5,000 employees in The Department of Public Works who are responsible for the construction, renovation and operation of City facilities and infrastructure, as well as the delivery of public safety and environmental programs.
