StreetsLA Hosts First Ever Global Best Practices Streets Summit

LOS ANGELES, CA (November 7, 2019) - StreetsLA hosted public works and transportation professionals this week from across the country, as well as London and Edinburgh, for the inaugural Global Best Practices Streets Summit at Los Angeles City Hall. 
 
The summit was held to provide an opportunity for a variety of stakeholders to discuss innovation, new technologies, and  best practices to deliver multiple benefits from street design and management. 
 
Councilmember Bob Blumenfield, Chair of the Public Works and Gang Reduction Committee, Councilmember Mike Bonin, Chair of the Transportation Committee, and Board of Public Works Commissioner Teresa Villegas spoke to emphasize the importance of the intended outcomes of the gathering. Attendees included representatives from elected offices, LA City departments and those from neighboring cities. 
 
“This summit was a critical opportunity for the City of Los Angeles to connect with our public works and transportation peers for brainstorming and sharing of best practices for managing and designing our streets,” said StreetsLA Executive Director and General Manager Adel Hagekhalil. “The range of ideas and approaches will be invaluable for everyone, as we all move forward in enhancing the quality of our streets through new and innovative elements.”
