Starting on Monday, March 1, StreetsLA (Bureau of Street Services) will modify its street sweeping operations, while launching a notification system of when a street will be swept. With the Covid-19 pandemic and staff reductions, the frequency of street sweeping will change on routes in the City from weekly to bi-weekly.

In order to assist residents with these changes, a dedicated landing page called “Street Sweeping Near Me”: www.streetsla.lacity.org/sweeping is available with a map and notification system that can be accessed anytime. The notification system will allow the user to input an address and get notified 24 hours before via email when StreetsLA will be sweeping that route. This will give residents the opportunity to move their vehicle prior to the posted sweeping time and avoid being ticketed.

“StreetsLA has done a brilliant job in adapting during the pandemic and with staff reductions, while working hard to maintain core services,” said Board of Public Works Commissioner Teresa Villegas. “Street sweeping is one of the key services for Angelenos and we appreciate the stakeholders’ feedback and understanding as we make modifications.”

In addition to the website, notifications will be sent out to: City Council Offices, Department of Transportation and stakeholders, Neighborhood Councils and StreetsLA Stakeholder Advisory Council and through social media posts, Next Door and Know Your Community Platform. Residents can also contact the City’s 311 Call Center, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on weekends from 8:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. or go to the my311 app for information.

“We want to thank the residents of the City, as we make these changes to the street sweeping operation,” said StreetsLA General Manager Adel Hagekhalil. “We are committed to maintaining this important service, while also giving us the opportunity to adjust in order to maximize our resources.”
