Meet Julie. Julie is Deputy City Engineer with the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Engineering. Julie has served the City of LA for 25 years. Julie’s 28-year professional career as an engineer includes both public and private sector experience in the transportation, municipal facilities, and wastewater sectors.  At the Bureau of Engineering, Julie leads the Bureau’s Mobility Program including the City’s $1.4B Safe Sidewalks LA program, Street Improvement and Bridge Improvement programs.

Julie has worked on multiple high-profile projects here in Los Angeles including serving as the Program Manager for the construction of the $436 million Los Angeles Police Department Administration Building and as the Project Manager for the Los Angeles World Airports Enhancement Program, which brought the iconic lighted pylons to LAX Airport.

Julie oversees over $536M in capital projects and 100 employees. She is not only the first woman engineer to serve as a Deputy City Engineer, but she is known for her leadership in promoting non-traditional careers for women and serving as a mentor to young engineers.
